Monki Gras, the conference about Software, Craft, and Experiences returns on January 28th and 29th 2016 at Shoreditch Studios.

Our theme this year is Homebrew: Turning Side Projects into Communities, Products and Companies.

Remember dotCloud before the pivot? The most explosive recent example of a side project blowing up is Docker. In the age of permission free IT, where developers are spinning up new projects at an accelerating rate, homebrew is a great metaphor to run with.

The combination of Open Source Software, Cloud, Social and Crowdfunding is creating entirely new possibilities in creating and sustaining side projects. For the last four years Monki Gras has brought together an elite audience of tech tastemakers to explore craft and developer culture. In year five we will lean even further into artisanal culture, starting with stuff that started at home, or in the garage or shed.

At Monki Gras we explore parallels between the microbrewery revolution and artisan food movements and what’s happening with software and startups – just as with software, some of the best breweries on the planet right now began as side projects. We are very excited that one of our first confirmed speakers is Evin O’Riordain of The Kernel Brewery, one of the best brewers on the planet.

The list of confirmed speakers so far includes:

  • Adam Rogers, DeskBeers
  • David Mytton, Server Density
  • Diane Mueller, Red Hat. Sideproject GetMakered Labs
  • Alex Fleetwood, Fabulous Beasts
  • Seth Thomas, Chef. Sideproject Polycount
  • KellyAnn Fitzpatrick, Apprenda. Sideproject Studies in Medievalism

We’ll kick off with a speaker and sponsor dinner on January 27th.

Following on from a solid day of awesome tech talks on Day One, we will treat attendees to fine craft beers and outstanding food. We’ll also have some superb wines from small batch producers in place this year.

Day Two will have more amazing talks, but also more “corridor time”. We will amp the networking time with a Monki Gras Social. Expect extraordinary coffee by London’s very best baristas, hangover cures and great conversation.

Why Sponsor?

Our conferences are about creating memorable experiences and supportive, engaged communities. We go the extra couple of miles to ensure people don’t forget the conference, or the patrons that supported it. In an era of cookie cooker conferences ours stand out from the pack.

Besides being the first and only event of its kind blending craft themes, beer and technology in the UK, Monki Gras is an exclusive, high profile developer and practitioner conference.  It’s a unique opportunity to reach an audience of technical humans that just don’t fit into traditional developer categories. You can’t find a crowd like this anywhere else in the world, where incredibly successful startup founders and enterprise general managers just come along for the ride, and mingle with other attendees as peers.

Monki Gras will be a much talked about event. By sponsoring it, you can be part of that conversation. Don’t take our word for it, here are quotes from RedMonk conference attendees:
